Lovely Ladies

{portraits: lou shabner}
There's a mystery surrounding the life [and death?] of renowned illustrator and artist, Lou Shabner. He was most famous for his 50s pin-up illustrations and art calendars. I nearly fell off my swivel chair when I came across [via the blog, strawberry lemonade] these super sweet illustrations of "lovely ladies". The detail and richness of Shabner's art steals my breath! The eyes! The lips! The hair! Pure loveliness!

These paintings are so beautiful! I must admit to feeling a twinge of jealousy... I'm not sure if my art could ever be that lovely!

They are amazing....compelling captivating, alluring, mysterious even. In these sophisticated and vixenish faces I see elements of various celebrities but also feel they represent the timeless beauty of muse-like women the world over.

Sweet hugs to you, honey!
♥ Jessica
